FAQs & Fees
Where do we start?
I usually suggest we start with a free ‘consultation’ session – basically an initial chat to discuss your needs and objectives and my way of working. It’s an opportunity for you to ask me any questions, and for me to hear more about your current situation and what’s important for you. If there’s a good fit and you’d like to continue, we then design the framework of the coaching/therapy relationship together and book the first session.
How many sessions should I have? How frequently? How long is each session?
I don’t ask for a minimum commitment, but I’d suggest you have at least 3 or 4 sessions initially. This gives us a reasonable amount of time to explore issues, identify patterns (and start to embed new ones) and review progress.
My therapy-oriented clients tend to have weekly 1-hour sessions over several months – or sometimes longer. Clients who are looking for coaching on a specific issue tend to see me for fewer sessions, perhaps returning for occasional ‘top-ups’. Some clients prefer 90 minute sessions if they need more time and space to fully connect with their thoughts and feelings before finding a way forward.
To meet high client demand in the most balanced, sustainable way, I allocate most clients a regular weekly slot, and there is often a wait-list for the most popular times. Occasionally, I can also arrange ‘time-shared’ slots between different clients on a fortnightly or monthly basis.
Where/how do the sessions take place?
As many of my clients are based in different parts of the UK or the wider world, sessions are usually online, using Zoom or Skype.
I also offer in-person therapy/coaching sessions at my home in Brighton & Hove (South England). Other locations can sometimes be arranged if my schedule allows and/or if travel surcharge is factored in.
What are the fees and terms?
- I charge £85 for 1 hour coaching/therapy sessions, or £110 for 1.5 hours.
- Discounts of 10% are available with advance payment for multiple (10+) sessions.
- Concessions are sometimes available for lower-income clients and longer-term weekly clients.
- Fees for longer workshop-style sessions (2hrs +) can be quoted on request.
If you represent a business / organisation and would like to discuss coaching for employees as a way to support your organisational change process, please contact me for more details. I would be happy to provide a proposal and a quote.
Payments are usually made by BACS transfer (or PayPal) and need to be settled in advance of sessions. I recommend Wise (https://wise.com/) or similar for international payments.
If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, please do so at least 48 hours in advance or you will be liable for the full cost.
What else do I need to know?
Bring a pen and paper to your sessions so that you can jot down key points and agreed actions. It’s also useful to spend a bit of time beforehand thinking about any current issues you would like to discuss, as well as progress made or challenges faced since the previous session.
To help this process, I may suggest 1 or 2 simple ‘homework’ exercises for you to complete or think about in between our sessions.
